West Bergholt is a large rural village lying near the border of the English counties of Essex and Suffolk. It is situated just outside and to the North-west of Colchester – Britain’s Oldest Recorded town. West Bergholt has a population of around 3,500 consisting of about 1,400 households. The village itself dates back to mediaeval times and has a well-documented history. In 2016 the village was recognised in RCCE Village of the year competition.

The village has a good selection of amenities including a good size Co Op store, post office, pharmacy, public houses, eateries, a doctor's surgery and primary school. Places at the primary school are highly sought after in the area and there is also a range of excellent private and state schools including two renowned grammar schools, with the house being within the Heathlands Primary School and The Stanway secondary school catchment areas.
